Impact MegaFam 2023: Kenya

Friday, 29 Sept:

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta Airport in Nairobi, Kenya. Enjoy a 40 minute to 1 hour road transfer to Giraffe Manor, to meet the famous Rothschild’s Giraffes, and learn the history of the sanctuary.

29 Sept: Stay: Giraffe Manor

Saturday, 30 Sept:

Begin your exploration through Kenya’s many reserves and national parks. You’ll start with a quick 20 min road transfer to Wilson Airport in time for your Safarilink scheduled flight to Nanyuki Airstrip (10:20 – 11:20), where you will be met by the team and transferred to Solio Lodge (45 mins) for mind-blowing rhino viewing across 45,000 acres of private reserve.

30 Sept – 2 Oct: Stay: Solio Lodge

Monday, 2 Oct:

Transfer to Solio Airstrip by road transfer for your onward Air Wilderness charter flight (time TBA the day prior) to Sasaab Airstrip. A quick 10 min road transfer to Sasaab and you’ll be ready to begin your adventure of engaging in cultural experiences, quad-biking, camel-riding, and hiking / walking.

2 – 4 Oct: Stay: Sasaab

Wednesday, 4 Oct:

Catch another Air Wilderness Charter flight (time TBA the day prior) to Suyian Airstrip in the Suyian Ranch region for an immersive and authentic mobile tented experience at Siruai Mobile Camp.

Spend the next two days discovering this wild corner of Kenya on foot, in a vehicle, or, to satisfy your adventurous side, kayak or tube down the river just beneath a waterfall. 

4 – 6 Oct: Stay: Siruai Mobile Camp

Friday, 6 Oct:

From Siruai Mobile Tented Camp, it is off to Sala’s Camp in the Mara. You’ll head to the Loisaba Airstrip to connect with a Safarilink scheduled flight to Keekorok Airstrip (time TBA the day prior), followed by a brisk, scenic 30 min road transfer to the camp. 

Delivering an authentic Masai Mara safari experience combined with exceptional service and fine dining, Sala’s Camp will be your home for 2 days of game drives that never disappoint.

6 – 8 Oct: Stay: Sala’s Camp

Sunday, 8 Oct: 

Today you head out of the Kenyan wilderness, starting with a Safarilink scheduled flight to Wilson Airport (time TBA the day prior) followed by a 20 minute road transfer to The Retreat @ Giraffe Manor, a haven of wellness in the heart of Nairobi. 

8 – 9 Oct: Stay: The Retreat @ Giraffe Manor

Monday, 9 Oct: 

You’ll depart The Retreat on an early morning transfer to Nairobi airport for your flight to Cape Town.

Monday, 9 Oct:

Magnas Tours & Transfers will be waiting to collect and transfer you on the 45 minute scenic road transfer to Boschendal Farm. You will be able to check into your rooms and enjoy some personal downtime to catch up on emails or explore the Farm.

9 – 12 Oct: Stay: Boschendal Farm

→ IMPACT Workshop: 3 nights / 2 full days

Thursday, 12 Oct:

There are no workshop plans for this day, so you can enjoy breakfast at your leisure and carry on with your onward travel arrangements.  Check-out is at 10am.

Packing List

To wear

Please pack only neutral colored clothes: khaki, brown, green, and grey.  Blue and black can attract tsetse flies, and bright colors, especially white, can stand out to animals.

  • Light-weight T-shirts, shorts, and long pants in neutral colors 
  • A warm jumper or fleece for the cool mornings and evenings
  • Comfortable, closed walking shoes
  • Hat, sunglasses, & swimming costume

Tech, Health & Other

  • Camera with spare batteries and memory cards
  • Binoculars
  • Chargers
  • Torch / flashlight / head-lamp
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent 

Paperwork & Currency

  • Passport with visa
  • Yellow Fever Certificate 
  • USD is accepted in Kenya; ZAR for South Africa
  • Comprehensive travel and medical insurance are essential

Flights

  • Baggage allowance on bush flights is 15kgs per person inclusive of hand bags.  All luggage must be in soft-sided bags.
