REQUIREMENTS: 

You will be required to be PROACTIVE, DEDICATED, OPEN MINDED, and FLEXIBLE.

  • Min 5 years sales & travel industry experience. Ideally with experience in safari representation or African
    travel planning.
  • Know and have good relationships with the key DMC’s across Africa, and international Travel Agents.
  • First-hand experience of camps and lodges across Africa.
  • Self-motivated and able to work alone / remotely.
  • Tech savvy/ computer literate (able to work comfortably with MS Office, hosting online meetings in ZOOM and ongoing CMS database management in Hubspot).
  • Understanding the needs of our travel partners and experience with African planning logistics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Impeccable eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills to deliver a high volume of quality work.
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritize while working on multiple projects.
  • People orientated and able to work in a team whilst running their own desk.
  • Candidate should be passionate about sustainability, travel and promoting authentic African experience.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensuring that each Sales Manager runs their own sales activities within their respective markets effectively,
collaborating and sharing ideas and best practices.

Please note that the below list is a guideline. There will be times when you will be expected to perform duties over
and above these listed activities:

  • Trade Relationships: Managing and building key trade partner relationships on a day-to-day basis, through training, pro actively following up and being a support to our agents and operators.

  • Sales Calls: Assisting with managing the planning of sales calls (locally and internationally) – trip planning and agent meetings – through to the full follow up cycle post meetings. Implementation of workshops, online product training / webinars.

  • Client Reporting: Interacting on a regular basis with Classic clients, understanding their concerns in the markets, looking for opportunities and ensuring they receive regular communication from the sales team as well as monthly reporting.

  • Reservations Support: Assisting trade partners building and fulfilling itineraries across our Portfolio, and assisting in the reservations process, liaising with agents/operators.

  • Agent Educationals: Planning and implementing ad hoc agent educational stays or group trips when focused on the African trade.

  • Office Administration: Day-to day office administration, responding quickly and knowledgeably on phone calls and email requests from agents.

  • Database: Maintaining the dynamic cloud database (along with the other members of the team), which currently has over 6,000 trade contacts of DMC’s, wholesalers, safari specialists, private guides and luxury service providers. Ongoing research into the contacts to ensure the database is correct and up to date.

  • Trade show appointments: Attending shows in your geographical area and setting up and coordinating appointments for both clients and the Classics team at these shows.

  • Communication between departments: Ensuring that affective communication is taking place between reservations, sales and marketing.

  • Analysing data: Analysing the reservations reports received from Clients and the marketing teams and highlighting key action points / info to the sales team and making sure they follow through.

WORKING HOURS & PLACE OF WORK

This is a full-time position and expected working hours are weekdays from 08:00 to 17:00 in our Cape Town office. Reliable internet at home is a must, as well as reliable transport and flexible transport times to and from the Cape Town office.

SALARY

Depends on candidate’s level of skill and experience.
