Five distinct lodges and camps in Kenya’s finest locations

From supporting the conservation and breeding of endangered Nubian/Rothschild’s giraffes to a sanctuary where you can see the arid landscape of the Samburu, the rocky scenery of the Laikipia, and the magic of the Mara. Welcome to The Safari Collection.

Kenya offers fantastic diversity within relatively easy travel distances (at least by African standards). The Safari Collection offers no better way to immerse yourself into the essence of a truly Kenyan safari.

Could you resist staying at the most sought-after hotel in Africa – Giraffe Manor? When you combine with the other camps and lodges in The Safari Collection you get preferred access to the Manor and their newly launched Retreat. This is the ideal pace to spend a night or two at the start or end of a safari. Overlooking Mount Kenya and within a world-class rhino sanctuary, Solio Lodge offers a variety of experiences including horse riding, game drives and walking. From here you head further north into Samburuland to experience the super stylish Sasaab, one of the most authentic and beautiful cultural experiences in Africa. Heading west into the Laikipia overlooking the Ewaso Narok River valley, Siruai Exclusive Mobile Camp awaits, bringing an authentic, luxury mobile tented experience with it. Ending the circuit is Sala’s Camp, on the grass plains of the Masai Mara, this is one of the first camps to see the migration arrive from the Serengeti.

The Safari Collection is family-owned and managed by fourth-generation Kenyans, Tanya and Mikey Carr-Hartley. With a lifetime of watching, listening and learning about the African bush, Tanya and Mikey share a mutual love of the Kenyan landscape and its wildlife and have dedicated their lives to protecting it.

The impact of your stay
IMPACT: HIGH

The Safari Collection firmly believe that we should tread delicately on our planet, leaving behind footprints made only by sandy toes. Their aim is to not only share the incredible natural wonders of East Africa, but to be passionate protectors of it. They created the Footprint Foundation to protect their environment and impact positively on the communities they work alongside.

Every stay contributes through:
  • Staying at Sala’s Camp and paying US$ 185 – 285 per adult per night (US$95 per child) Masai Mara Park Fees and Rhino Conservation Fee. The park fee helps safeguard the biodiversity of the Masai Mara and a donation is made to the Mara Rhino Rangers who are protecting this threatened species in the area around Sala’s Camp.
  • Supporting The Pangolin Project – the only organisation of its kind in East Africa. It promotes pangolin awareness through community education and has a research team based at Sala’s Camp.
  • Showing interest in the Mara Cheetah Project and Mara Lion Project, who are based at Sala’s when they are in the south of the Masai Mara. There are opportunities for you to visit the project or to have dinner with, or a lecture from, one of their team about the research and conservation activities.
  • Staying at Sasaab and paying US$ 160 per adult per night (US$ 87.50 per child) Samburu Park Fee & Westgate Conservation Fee, which contributes directly towards the running of Westgate Conservancy on which Sasaab is situated, as well as supporting the daily running costs of wildlife management.
  • Sasaab employs 75% of their team from the local Samburu community, and your stay allows for the sustainable development of livelihoods to compliment the challenges increasingly faced by traditional pastoralist lifestyles.
  • Sasaab has also been awarded an official certification as a Global Ecosphere Retreat by The Long Run. This is one of the highest sustainability standards in the world and signifies Sasaab’s ongoing commitment to making a positive impact on biodiversity and the wellbeing of communities.
  • Staying at Solio Lodge and paying US$ 122 per adult per night (US$ 61 per child) Conservation Fees which supports the running of Solio Conservancy and its rhino breeding programme, therefore directly helping to protect this highly vulnerable species.
  • Giraffes are becoming highly endangered across much of Africa. Just by staying at Giraffe Manor you are contributing to the conservation of these gentle giants and US$ 10 is donated for every stay to African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (AFEW) to support the conservation and breeding of endangered Nubian/Rothschild’s giraffes.

An iconic Nairobi experience pairing close encounters with Rothschild’s giraffe and a calm, wellness-led retreat.

Together, Giraffe Manor and The Retreat offer two complementary ways to experience The Safari Collection in Nairobi. Located nearby, The Retreat at Giraffe Manor is a contemporary property designed around space and wellbeing. It offers standalone suites set within landscaped gardens, along with a spa, yoga pavilion, gym and swimming pool. Sasaab

A striking safari lodge set above the Ewaso Nyiro River, offering a distinctly northern Kenyan safari experience.

Sasaab delivers a quiet, immersive stay in one of Kenya’s most dramatic and less-visited regions. The focus is on space, privacy and time spent exploring a landscape that feels markedly different from the country’s more familiar safari destinations.

Located within the Samburu region, Sasaab sits on a rocky ridge overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River, with wide views across arid plains and distant mountain ranges. This semi-arid environment supports a unique mix of wildlife, including species found almost exclusively in the north, such as Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx and Somali ostrich.

The lodge is designed to reflect its setting, with open-sided structures and natural materials that respond to the climate and landscape. Accommodation is arranged to maximise privacy and views, creating a strong sense of place and connection to the surrounding wilderness.

Beyond game drives, the area lends itself to a range of experiences, from guided walks and river excursions to cultural interactions with local Samburu communities. Sasaab offers a safari shaped by contrast – between river and desert, wildlife and culture, stillness and exploration.

7 Moroccan-style suites + 1 Family Suite

A stunning luxury tented camp in the heart of the Samburu wilderness. Perched on the edge of a river valley, the architecture of Sasaab blends Swahili and Moroccan design principles in which the African heat is of primary consideration.

Each of the 8 individual canvas-sided rooms is over 100m² with private plunge pools and breath-taking views across the Laikipia Plateau toward the jagged peaks of Mount Kenya. Its position above the river naturally facilitates watching the herds of elephant that come to bathe below as well as a host of other wildlife.

Sala’s Camp

A classic tented safari camp set on the banks of the Sand River, offering front-row access to the Masai Mara’s most dramatic wildlife moments.

Sala’s Camp is known for its quiet setting, excellent guiding and close connection to the rhythms of the Mara. The experience is shaped by seasonal wildlife movement, unhurried game viewing and a strong sense of continuity, making it particularly appealing to safari purists.

Located in the southern Masai Mara, close to the Tanzanian border, Sala’s Camp sits beside the Sand River, a key wildlife corridor throughout the year. During the annual Great Migration, the river becomes one of the main crossing points, placing the camp in a prime position for observing this natural event. Outside of migration season, the area continues to support high densities of resident wildlife, including predators and plains game.

The camp is traditionally styled and intentionally small in scale, offering a classic tented safari atmosphere that prioritises comfort without distraction. Accommodation is arranged along the riverbank, allowing guests to remain closely connected to the surrounding landscape. As part of The Safari Collection, Sala’s Camp reflects a long-standing commitment to quality guiding, personal hosting and a deep respect for place.

Siruai Mobile Camp

A traditional mobile safari camp offering a front-row seat to the Masai Mara’s most dramatic wildlife movements.

Siruai Mobile Camp is designed to follow the rhythm of the Great Migration, moving seasonally to place guests in the heart of the action. The experience is focused on excellent guiding, flexibility and time spent in areas where wildlife activity is at its most intense.

Operating seasonally within the Masai Mara ecosystem, Siruai Mobile Camp relocates to key areas along the migration route, including river crossing points and prime grazing grounds. This mobility allows the camp to remain close to large herds of wildebeest and zebra as they move through the region, while also offering strong resident wildlife viewing.

The camp is traditionally styled and intentionally simple, reflecting the classic mobile safaris of East Africa. Tents are comfortably appointed and set up for short stays, with shared guest areas creating a communal atmosphere. The focus remains firmly on the safari itself – early mornings, full days in the field and evenings spent recounting the day’s sightings around the fire.

As part of The Safari Collection, Siruai Mobile Camp benefits from experienced guides, careful camp placement and a consistent standard of service, while maintaining the authenticity and flexibility that define a true mobile safari.
