2 camps, 1 lodge, 1 exclusive suite & 1 private camp located in the 220 000-hectare NamibRand Nature Reserve.

Immerse yourself in the desert with scenic drives, the Wolwedans Water Walk, quiet and solitary moments, bushman walks, fat tyre e-bike adventures, a tour of the Wolwedans Village, and iconic sundowners.

Wolwedans is more than a collection of camps: it is a collection of dreams. Its ethos lies in setting an example in sustainability and continually fulfilling its commitment to the conservation of the NamibRand Nature Reserve.

Located in the heart of the NamibRand Nature Reserve in southern Namibia, their portfolio of timeless and elegant safari camps provides the perfect base from which to embark on exciting and interpretative desert activities or simply relax and enjoy the magnitude of the landscape. The red dunes, endless yellow plains, impressive mountain ranges and fascinating eco-systems of the NamibRand, an International Dark Sky Reserve, are unlike anything you have ever experienced. This is a place of ancient energy that restores the modern soul.

Visionary Albi Brückner created the NamibRand Nature Reserve in the mid-1980’s by buying 8 farms, dropping the fences, and so conserving the land and wildlife. In 1994, his son Stephan Brückner built Dune Camp on Wolwedans farm and so the Wolwedans Collection was born.

The WOLWEDANS WAY is a business philosophy based on 3 key pillars leading their decision making.

  • ‘Pursuit of Happiness’ – ahead of the quest for profit.
  • ‘Business in Balance’ – do what is good for people and the environment, ahead of leading with commercial success.
  • ‘5C’s Sustainability’ – all actions are guided by the interconnectedness of Conservation, Commerce, Community, Culture and Consciousness.

Boulders Camp
8 Tented Rooms

Situated in the deep south of the reserve and set among massive granite boulders, Boulders Camp is the most remote and traditionally styled camp within the Wolwedans Collection. Its location offers a high level of seclusion and a strong sense of distance from other areas of the reserve.

The camp’s position within this rocky landscape places guests in an area shaped by ancient geological formations and wide desert plains, reinforcing its reputation as the most classic Wolwedans camp.

Activities focus on experiencing the landscape at a slower pace. Guided scenic drives explore the southern reaches of the reserve, while two- to three-hour guided walking safaris follow historic game paths and traditional San hunting grounds. eBiking provides an additional way to cover greater distances across the reserve.

Boulders Camp is well suited to guests seeking a remote setting, limited distractions and time spent exploring the reserve on foot, by vehicle or bike.

The impact of your stay
IMPACT: VERY HIGH

Sustainability is not a side arm of Wolwedans, it is the heart and soul of who they are. Recognised by The Long Run as a Global Ecosphere Retreat, Wolwedans is committed to promoting an inclusive, holistic paradigm of conservation that enhances livelihoods and fosters intercultural dialogue.

During the Covid lockdown of 2020, Stephen Brückner used the time to establish The AridEden Project, underpinned by a philosophy of balancing people, planet and profit in everything they do. AridEden provides the framework and identity for the Wolwedans journey.

Every stay contributes through:
  • Paying the Sustainability Levy of NAD 1 600 (2026) per adult (18 and older) and NAD 800 (2026) per child (under 18) per night, above the accommodation rates. This levy includes a NamibRand Nature Reserve Park Fee and the balance is allocated to the Wolwedans Foundation to drive its 5C’s Sustainability, as outlined through The AridEden Project.
  • You are supporting a lodge that employs an all Namibian team.
  • Contributing to the conservation of the NamibRand Nature Reserve, a private nature reserve established to help protect and conserve the unique ecology and wildlife of the south-west Namib Desert.
  • Every visit by a guest contributes to the AridEden Project, a practical framework for building more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive tourism conservation economies.
